Tracer Tier Rating - S-tier

We rate Tracer as a S-tier Damage hero in the current Overwatch 2 meta (among possible tiers of S, A, B, C, and D).

Tracer has mostly been an S-tier pick throughout Overwatch's existence. Despite a slight nerfs at the start of Season 10, she's still incredibly strong.

Her mobility is unmatched in the Damage role. She's good whether your team plays a dive team composition or she's getting into backlines by herself.

Tracer Counters

Since the original Overwatch game was launched, Tracer has almost always been a viable pick. A strong Tracer player can dominate the game.

If the enemy team has a Tracer causing you problems, here are the top Tracer counters:

Cassidy

Cassidy

Cassidy, formerly known as Mccree, was the original counter to Tracer. Originally, he had a Flashbang ability that could stop her in her tracks. Following up a Flashbang with a Peacekeeper headshot sent Tracer back to spawn. Despite flashbang being replaced with Cassidy's Magnetic Grenade, his kit is still effective at countering Tracer.

The new Magnetic Grenade ability prevents Tracer from using Blink and Recall when she's stuck by it. Even if you don't manage to stick her with the Magnetic Grenade, you can force her to use a Blink or Recall to avoid it.

If you have the aim, Cassidy can quickly delete Tracer with two well-placed shots or by combining his Magnetic Grenade with a headshot. His Combat Roll also helps him to get distance from tracer and the reduced damage he takes while rolling can even let him survive a Pulse Bomb.

Torbjörn

Torbjörn

Torbjörn's auto-aiming Turret chips down Tracer's relatively low HP, making it difficult for her to sneak around your team's backline. Hearing the Turret and seeing the direction it's firing also helps tip off your teammates to Tracer's location.

Additionally, the alternate-fire of Torbjörn's Rivet Gun can wipe out a large percentage of Tracer's HP at close range.

Symmetra

Symmetra

Symmetra's Sentry Turrets can help slow down Tracer both literally and figuratively. Their movement speed decrease and damage will give Tracers fits when they're within range.

However, the range of Sentry Turrets isn't that far. For this reason, Symmetra is best on narrow maps, maps with narrow chokes, or when members of your team are likely to be in one area for a long time (think capture points).

Kiriko

Kiriko

Kiriko is not exactly a direct counter to Tracer, but she's one of the best Supports you can play when facing a talented Tracer.

While it's difficult to pull off, two Kunai headshots will take Tracer out. Suzu and Swift Step (teleport) will also help keep you alive when a Tracer goes after you. If your teammates don't need healing and you're in a 1v1 against Tracer, it's a good idea to try to fight her long enough to force out some of her cooldowns before teleporting away from her.

Suzu also completely nullifies Tracer's Pulse Bomb ultimate ability when you or a teammate are stuck by it.

Brigitte

Brigitte

While Shield Bash no longer stuns enemies in Overwatch 2 (unless used during her Ultimate Ability Rally), Brigitte remains a good pick against an enemy Tracer.

First, Brigitte's shield makes it very difficult for a Tracer to damage her. It will force an enemy Tracer to blink to try to get behind you, but then she'll likely be in the range of your Rocket Flail (primary fire). While Rocket Flail doesn't do a ton of damage, it requires virtually no aim skill to hit a Tracer when she's within range.

Brigitte's Whip Shot deals 70 damage and knocks the Tracer away from you. Ideally, you can knock her towards your higher-damage-dealing teammates to help with the fight.

It won't be enough to take her out completely, but the Shield Bash and Whip Shot combo will take most of a Tracer's health.

Zarya

Zarya

Zarya's Particle Barrier and Projected Barrier can block Tracer's damage from you or your teammates respectively. They also completely nullify the damage of Tracer's Ultimate Pulse Bomb.

Soldier: 76

Soldier: 76

Soldier: 76 is another hero we wouldn't consider a direct counter to Tracer. However, he can be a great pick if an enemy Tracer is making your life difficult playing the Damage role or if she's giving your team's Supports problems.

The long-range effectiveness of Soldier's Heavy Pulse Rifle lets you play back to help protect Supports like Zenyatta, Ana, Illari, and others. You can use his Biotic Field to heal yourself and your allies when Tracer dives in on you.

Soldier: 76's Helix Rockets can deal a high amount of burst damage to Tracer, either finishing her off or forcing her to Recall.

In 1v1s with Tracer as Soldier: 76, it is crucial to manage cooldowns effectively and pay close attention to her ability usage.

Junkrat

Junkrat

Particularly at lower ranks, Junkrat's high burst damage can quickly wipe out an enemy Tracer. Lower rank Tracers are also much more likely to end up in Junrat's Steel Trap.
