The Counter-Strike 2 console is useful for entering commands (like give commands), setting binds, changing settings, and more. This article will explain how you can open the console in CS2 (formerly CS:GO).

How to Open the Console in CS2

To open the developer console in Counter-Strike 2, you need to enable it in your settings. To enable it, go to your CS2 settings, then click the “GAME” tab under “GAME” settings. Here, select “YES” for the “Enable Developer Console (~)” setting.

Enable Developer Console in Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)

By default, the keyboard key bound to open the console is the tilde key (~). Once you’ve enabled the console in your settings, you can press this key to open the console.

With the developer console open, you can enter commands in the input at the bottom.

Use the Counter-Strike 2 Console to create a key bind.

In the example above, we create a key bind to bind jump to the mouse scroll wheel.

How to Change Your Counter-Strike 2 Open Console Key Bind

While the default key to open the CS2 developer console is the tilde key (~), you can change this to any keyboard key you’d prefer.

To change this key bind in your settings, go to the “UI KEYS” tab under “KEYBOARD/MOUSE” settings. Click “Toggle Console”, then press the key on your keyboard that you want to bind to open and close the console.

Alternatively, you can use the console itself to change the key bound to open and close it. To do this, open the console, then enter this command into it:

bind “p” “toggleconsole”

This command will bind your “p” key to toggle the console open/closed, but you can replace “p” with any valid CS2 bind key code.
