How to Get Gold Weapons in Overwatch 2
Season 10 of Overwatch 2 brought many exciting changes, including a new Hero, Venture, changes to other Heroes, and an announcement of a new game mode. Perhaps lost by some amid the sea of updates, Blizzard is now making it possible to earn points toward unlocking Golden weapons again.
How to Get Gold Weapons in Overwatch 2
With the release of Season 10, you can now purchase Golden weapons using either Legacy Competitive Points OR the newer 2024 Competitive Points. However, you can’t combine both in-game currencies to unlock weapons. Golden weapons cost 3000 Legacy Competitive Points or 3000 2024 Competitive Points.
To get a gold weapon with either of these currencies:
- Click “Heroes” in the main menu of Overwatch 2.
- Select the Hero for whom you want to get a gold weapon.
- On that Hero’s page, click “Weapon Variants”.
- Select the Gold Weapon Variant.
- If you have at least 3000 Legacy Competitive Points or 3000 of the new 2024 Competitive Points, you can click “Unlock” to purchase the Gold weapon.
How to Earn Competitive Points
You can earn the new Competitive Points (red icon) by playing Competitive Matchmaking.
All Competitive Points earned prior to Season 9 are considered Legacy Competitive Points (white icon). Legacy Points are no longer earnable. Since the start of Season 9, players now earn the new 2024 Competitive Points.

No Longer Limited to Jade Weapons
During season 9, you could only purchase Jade weapons with the new Competitive Points.
The Jade weapons are pretty “meh” at best. Understandably, the Overwatch 2 player base wasn’t thrilled with this change. Thankfully, the Season 10 change now lets you use the new Competitive Points to buy both Jade and Gold weapons.
