Overwatch 2 Hero Tier List

Our Overwatch 2 tier list places every Hero into a tier, from "S" (best) to "F" (worst). We assigned each Hero a tier based on their usage and win rates in high-ranked Competitive matches and Professional Overwatch 2 play.

In general, the lower you rank, the better Heroes that require less mechanical skill become. Cassidy could be a high tier on our list, while Junkrat is a low tier. However, Junkrat could be a much more effective Hero at lower ranks where players have worse aim.

Overwatch 2 Hero Difficulty List

The main goal of our Overwatch 2 Difficulty List is to describe how easy it is to play each Hero to a reasonably effective level. We made this with low to mid-rank Overwatch 2 players in mind.

Generally, Heroes that require less mechanical skill are ranked as easier to play. It's easier to heal as Lúcio (be near a teammate with Healing Boost) than as Ana (requires precise aim with her Biotic Rifle). However, this does not mean that Lúcio doesn't have a high-skill ceiling. There's a huge difference between being able to help teammates in your Gold-ranked games to a reasonable level and being one of the best Lúcio players in the world.

We also factor in each Hero's abilities and how easy they are to use to some level of effectiveness. Doomfist requires excellent management of his abilities and coordination with your team to be effective, but you can help your team to some degree as Reinhardt by simply standing in front of them and holding your shield.

Again, we want to reiterate that our difficulty rating does not equate to a Hero's skill ceiling. You can be quite effective as Kiriko at lower ranks by staying alive and pumping out heals with your Ofuda. However, the best Kiriko players are lethal with Kunai and almost always use Suzu at the right time.

Overwatch 2 Heroes Explained

Characters in Overwatch 2 are called Heroes. Heroes are split into three roles: Tank, Damage, and Support.

• Tanks are the highest health Heroes. A Tank's duties typically include leading the charge into fights with the enemy, controlling space, and protecting teammates. While Damage characters are often considered the primary damage dealers, tanks can also damage enemies tremendously.
• Damage Heroes' (often called DPS) primary purpose is to damage enemies and get eliminations.
• Supports can deal damage to enemies but are also tasked with healing their allies. Their main objective is to keep their team alive. However, they can also help take out enemies when their teammates don't need their focus.

In Overwatch 2 Competitive and Unranked matchmaking, teams consist of 1 Tank, 2 Damage, and 2 Support Heroes. This differs from the original Overwatch game, where each team had a second tank.

Every Overwatch Hero has their own set of abilities, including at least two abilities with a relatively short cooldown and an Ultimate Ability that you can build up to. You get your Ultimate ability over time, by damaging enemies, and healing allies. Ultimates are far more impactful than a Hero's normal abilities. Each Hero also has their own unique weapon. You can unlock Jade and Gold weapon variants for each of them. These are purely cosmetic upgrades that don't affect the weapon's performance.
